The Monta Loma working group’s task was to make sure MVWSD has heard all of the considerations regarding the shared use at the campus and build consensus around a solution that works for stakeholder groups according to the goals outlined for the work group. This working group was composed of a total of 9 members; representatives of the community, school staff, parents, and City of Mountain View.
Goals:
· Respond to the District’s Master Facilities Plan to create a feeling of safety on the Monta Loma Campus
· To share perspectives regarding the school and the open space
· To understand and balance needs and to collaborate on a successful solution to all of the issues
· Maintain open and equitable access to park and open space
· Maintain the community
· Provide a safe space for students and staff
Applications were reviewed by the District Advisory Committee; a group of MVWSD parents.
The Work Group met from February 25- May 27. The discussions of the group illuminated that there are multiple items that need to be addressed for the field to serve both the school and community. As a result, the District and City of Mountain View are proposing a redesign of the field area so we are able better meet the needs of all stakeholders. MVWSD will communicate regularly about this process as it's developed.
