Construction updates

Just a reminder that Measure T bond construction safety/operational efficiency projects are underway. Some portions of our school campuses are off-limits this summer, with the exception of Monta Loma Elementary, which is hosting our summer school programs.

Depending on the school site, construction will be happening on the blacktop where solar arrays will be placed, in some parking lots due to paving and electrical work, and intermittently around the perimeter of the campus during fencing construction (not at Monta Loma). Interior work may include electrical and HVAC. To view your school’s specific details and maps, please see https://www.mvwsd.org/construction.

Solar
Schools will get solar arrays near the blacktop areas this summer (Monta Loma, Crittenden and Theuerkauf will have solar work in 2022). Not only will these structures support solar panels to save the district $600,000 annually in electrical costs, they will provide much-needed shade. Some non-heritage trees will have to be removed to make way for the arrays, but MVWSD will replant two native trees for every one removed.

Perimeter controls (Not at Monta Loma and Vargas)
Construction begins on perimeter fencing that connects existing fencing and added gates to completely enclose campus and fields in order to secure campuses during school hours. Even during fence construction, the public will continue to have access to fields outside school hours. Fencing and gates will be ornamental metal to match existing at campus frontage and 6’ high chain link fencing and gates at property lines and back of campus.

Office remodel at Mistral
Mistral will finally get an update of its aged and inefficient front office facing Escuela Ave. This delayed remodeling project was part of Measure G, a past bond. A portion of the area in front of the office is fenced off.

Thank you for your support of our schools and patience during construction. To receive future updates about these Measure T projects, please sign up here: http://mvw.sd/ConstUpdates
