School Messenger

The District uses a product called SchoolMessenger to communicate with families. SchoolMessenger gives the District the ability to send phone messages, emails, and also text messages. The phone number, email address, or cell phone number that is used for these communications is comes from the District's student information system. It is possible to unsubscribe or subscribe to each type of broadcast. Unsubscribing from one or more of the communication options will limit your ability to receive important messages from the District.

Phone Calls

The phone calls are sent to the phone number of the primary contact for your student. If you would like to change the number that is called please contact your school. If you no longer wish to receive any phone calls from the District email [email protected] and ask that your phone number be added to the block list in SchoolMessenger. Please include your name and the full ten digit phone number in your email. Blocking your number will limit your ability to receive important information from the school district or your student's school site.

Email Messages

Email messages are sent to the primary and secondary contact for your student. Each email message includes a link at the bottom of the message that allows you to opt-out of receiving future messages. If you accidentally unsubscribed from receiving email messages from SchoolMessenger or you would like to change the email address that is used for these messages please contact your school site.

Text Messages

MVWSD has the capability to send text messages, but we are required to ask you first to opt-in before receiving text messages from the District. You may have received a text message when this service was first added in 2015 or when your cell phone number was added to our system.

Here’s how to opt in. You can subscribe or unsubscribe to receive text messages from the District at any time by texting one of the short codes listed below to 67587 using the cell phone number that the District has on record.

• Opt-in: "Y", "YES", "OPTIN", "OPT IN", and "SUBSCRIBE" are all acceptable keywords for subscribing to SMS text messaging.
• Opt-out: "END", "CANCEL", "OPT OUT", "OPTOUT", "STOP", "QUIT", and "UNSUBSCRIBE" will cancel SMS messages to the recipient.

In order to receive messages from the District you need to opt-in from the number that is listed as the cell contact number in our student information system. If you need to update this number, please contact your school.

If you have any further questions regarding this service please contact Jon Aker at [email protected]
