Administrative changes and new faces for the 2020-21 school year

Dear Parents,

I wanted to let you know of several administrative changes for the 2020-21 school year. Please join me in congratulating these staff members who are moving into new leadership positions in our District and growing their professional skills for the benefit of MVWSD students.

“MHenderson"Huff teacher Ms. Megan Henderson will be the District’s new Equity Coach. It’s been a strategic goal of MVWSD and the Board of Trustees to ensure students and families are able to learn and thrive in a bias-free, inclusive environment. As indicated by MVWSD’s recent Equimetrics survey, the district can benefit from coordinated efforts in this area. Ms. Henderson has a bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco, and a master’s in education from UC Santa Barbara where she served as both a lecturer and as an adviser to master’s degree students. She has also completed several institutes at the Museum of Tolerance.

“SDagar"Theuerkauf principal Ms. Swati Dagar will be the District’s new interim Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. Before MVWSD, she served as a principal for Paradise Valley Engineering Academy (Morgan Hill Unified), where she led school redesign into an engineering-focused academy, including a new instructional program with the adoption of engineering/STEM focused curriculum. She also has worked as principal of Oak Avenue Elementary School (Greenfield Union) and Dean of Academic Affairs and teacher leader for James McEntee Academy (Alum Rock Union Elementary School District). Ms. Dagar completed bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration in India, and has a Master’s in Education from National University.

Please welcome these principals who are new to our District. I am excited to see them bring their experience and skills to their schools this year.

“MWilliams"Ms. Michelle Williams is the new Principal at Theuerkauf Elementary School. Ms. Williams has 12 years of K-12 teaching experience. Over the past several years, she has served as Dean/Vice Principal of Instruction and as Instructional Coach at e3 Civic High in San Diego. There, she developed strong literacy improvement and SEL programs through diverse professional development practices, centered around online tools. Ms. Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Texas at Dallas and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University. She is fluent in Spanish and speaks conversational Russian, Arabic, and Mandarin due to ESL volunteer work overseas. She holds credentials in Administrative Services, English, ESL, and Social Sciences.

“TLee"Ms. Trisha Lee will be the new Monta Loma Elementary School principal. She began her career in education in 2000 with the Milpitas Unified School District, and served there as a middle and high school science teacher, student activities director at both levels, middle school assistant principal, and elementary school principal. She most recently served as principal of Santa Cruz Gardens Elementary for the past two years. She believes rigorous standards-based curriculum and personalized, research-based instruction partnered with strong social-emotional systems of support are key to student growth and advancement. She has a Master’s in Administrative Education from Santa Clara University and Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

“COlaciregui"Ms. Claudia Olaciregui will be the new principal of Gabriela Mistral Elementary. She was born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia and moved to San Jose in August 2000 to work as a cultural exchange teacher with the San Jose Unified School District. She later joined the Sunnyvale School District where she worked as a teacher an English Language Development Coach. In 2014, she became a principal of Morgan Hill’s Dual Immersion School and Environmental Science Academy. Her professional experience includes over 26 years of teaching, coaching, leading and research in the integration of technology in education with the Stanford School of Education. She has a Master’s in Instructional Technology, Master’s in Clinical Psychology, Bachelor’s in Science-Psychology and Bachelor’s of Arts-Education from San Jose State University.

Respectfully,
Dr. Ayindé Rudolph
