Board meeting preview: Reopening, LCAP and more

The MVWSD Board of Trustees will meet on Thursday, Jan. 21. Topics include:

* The Board will hear a presentation from Superintendent Dr. Ayindé Rudolph on the school reopening process. This presentation will cover the data that has been collected so far to inform MVWSD’s updated plan for how schools can reopen under current COVID-19 conditions and revised state and county guidelines. Dr. Rudolph will cover how plans for Blended Learning (some on-campus days for students) have been revised, the conditions that MVWSD will have to meet to reopen for in-person instruction and the plan for community engagement to learn about considerations.

* Staff will present the process for writing the coming year’s LCAP. This is a three-year document that guides the District’s work in student achievement, parent engagement, instruction, school climate and more.

* Staff will present information on the Governor's January Budget Proposal.

Coming soon: Please participate in annual LCAP survey

LCAPThe District is beginning its annual process of writing the LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan). Your input from the survey will guide the development of our District’s three-year plan that will correspond with the first three years of the District’s new Strategic Plan 2027. These documents are the blueprints that guide all of the District’s work for the benefit of our students.

Look for an email soon about the LCAP survey, and for a meeting at your school to learn more about the LCAP/Strategic Plan process.

Student enrollment for 2021-22 for is open now

registrationFor NEW students:  Open Enrollment is now through Feb. 5, 2021 online. You can register your child for the 2021-22 school year here:  www.mvwsd.org/register.

For CURRENT students in transitional kindergarten-7th grade: Parents will be asked by email to confirm enrollment from January 18- 22. Please look for an email from Student Services with a request to log on to the Powerschool Parent Portal: https://ps.mvwsd.org/public/.

New communications specialist

Corinne MitchnerCorinne Mitchner is MVWSD’s new Communications Specialist. Ms. Mitchner is a recent graduate of Scripps College where she studied media and psychology. She has experience in development, marketing, social media management and working as a local journalist. She is a graduate of Bubb Elementary, Graham Middle School and MVLA. She will assist the Communications Office with social media updates, website updates, and content including graphics and videos.
